Using face mask strings to saw through plastic chairs

My niece told me about this a couple of weeks ago..... her year group (another school, fortunately) have to be escorted everywhere they go now apparently, because "no-one knows who's doing it"..... Not been a problem here yet.......

I agree, though - how can the teacher not notice this happening? It's gonna be noisy...... :surprised:

We also had this before Easter. Not in the science dept (we have wooden stools), but then again one way of setting the fire alarm off. It's that time of year!!

Same here :-( - damage is pretty bad, we will have to replace 18 chairs that have been destroyed. It's on Tik Tok, that's where they picked it up - feel like sending them the bill!!!

Thing is where are the teachers when this was happening, several chairs have the back literally sawn in half must have taken over 10 minutes to do that.

Do you mean the blue 'surgical' masks? You wouldn't think the string would be strong enough
Yes and it is. What worries me that this is obviously going on nationally and no one has spoken to each other until now. I know it's not our responsibility but think of the money they could have saved if people had been made aware at Easter!!!

heat of friction can do wonders! I remember doing the same with plastic rulers when I was a student (sorry!)
I might just go and inspect the chairs in our classroom

Usually our deputy head sends out warnings of the latest Tik Tok craze to look out for. Maybe I need to give him the heads up this time

It makes you question how teachers are not spotting this happening as surely it takes quite a bit of continuous manual effort to do this?
Then again we had a student painting a huge mural with tipp-ex during a lesson and that went "unnoticed"....

It has been on the technicians Facebook group frequently for the last month, since we returned from lockdown.
