Testing Urine for Sugar and Proteins

I've been asked to make up a urine testing kit for this afternoon but after a quick google I can't find any notes on what goes into making the 'urine' samples. The teacher is looking for:

Sample A - normal sample
Sample B - sugar sample
Sample C - protein sample

I'm thinking for Sample A I could just colour water with food dye or possibly tea? Then I can add glucose for Sample B and egg albumen for Sample C?

Any other ideas welcome :)

It's what I would do! I use food dye, a little yellow with a smidge of brown. Send it in warm too!

That's exactly what I do. Tea bags work really well. !

I found the food dye we have interfered with the biuret test so I usually use felt tip ink. I'll give tea a try next time.

When I didn't have any egg albumen I had to use some dissolved gelatin for the protein sample. It worked great as long as it didn't get too cold at which point it developed a slight wobble so looked like there was something very wrong with the donor :laughing:

Just make sure you deliver them warm..... a little below body temperature.... "Here are your urine samples - they're nice and fresh....!"
Then do the finger slip* taste test

*Dip our middle finger then quickly put your index finger in your mouth - they never notice the switch

Cold tea with glucose and albumen added. Some folk add a bit of ammonia too.
Marmite also produces a good looking wee
Thanks guys :) how much albumen/glucose do you use for each sample?

we do a similar version of this
