Renewable energy demo/practicals?

Wind turbine , water turbine , solar power car / cells assuming you have the equipment ?

If you really want to go basic / electricity-free, wind up toys might serve (cue discussions about muscle energy, food chains, etc., as renewable energy sources)? Or see if they can make a scale model of a Theo Jansen wind-powered strandbeest!

You can also build things like wind turbines from a dc motor held in a clamp with 'sails' built from toothpicks or splints with paper attached to some bluetack or plasticine (albeit an angled splint gives good enough lift to spin the turbine quickly). Point a hairdryer or fan at them to get a result. Also some fans can be spun and electricity generated from them as turbines.
