RAAC affected schools

Hi everyone,

With the list of schools growing everyday I was wondering how many of us are affected by this dreaded building problem. We unfortunately are unable to access our whole science department. Apparently that part of the school was built last and they changed the building materials they were using.

We currently aren't able to do any practical work as little to no access to all our equipment. Was wondering how everyone else was coping?

We're split over three sites now, we took some kit to the Y10-11 site (disused vocational college) along with furniture computers etc so will be able to do some of the required pracs and some demos I think getting in next week maybe...

Ours was serious enough that we were in the priority list 3 years ago. Same situation, found out on September PD days that all of English and an outside science lab couldn't be used. The initial fix took most of that academic year, then just after Christmas last year we were told that this was not good enough, so out of action for the same rooms again, at short notice. Final repairs done and signed off 01/09/23.

Thankfully only one science lab involved!

We are managing by sitting in the staff room and drinking tea, jollying the teachers along and trying to actually help deliver text books all over the school. Luckily we bought some more new text books at the end of last year. Unfortunately the teachers are everywhere at the moment so they aren't having much fun.

We are still waiting to here what is going to happen with the building, there has been many speculations as it's a wing of the whole school but we will have to wait and see. Hoping to here more on Monday, currently they are preparing part of the site for storage for everthing that is currently in the building.

And in other news, I accidentally discovered that I am currently the most-qualified German speaker in the school (A level in 1994!!!). I have said I will NOT go into classrooms but *might* consider marking work twice a term as long as I am paid for it.
