Places to visit

Hi all,

With Summer looming in the not too distant future, our thoughts turn to holidays.
Want to share some good places to visit that we may not know exist?
My son away this weekend to this place;

It looks great. Excellent reviews. I've put it forward as a possible residential trip for next years Activities week.
Plus, I really want to go! Not your usual type of theme park.

Iceland is probably the best place I've visited, a lovely combination of weird and beautiful with more than an hint of proto-earth energy???. Love Norway too - in fact all the Scandinavian countries. I think I'm a Viking at heart. These places really do touch something deep inside. The truth is I can't stand hot places.
Closer to home and probably for the same reasons - I would recommend Snowdonia in Wales, though that's not much of a secret.
Think I just love rugged, high places with space to breath.
I like city breaks too and would recommend cities like Munich, Salzburg, Rotterdam, Bergen and Liverpool.
I think this the first time this week my mind has actually woken up - thinking about cool places.

Places on my 'To Visit' list now are; Iceland ( Not the shop, although over 60's Wednesdays are handy)
Pou du Fou ( just decided), Port Merrion, Budapest.

Budapest is lovely . combine it with a trip to Transylvania , beautiful place . Towns like Brasov, Sibui and Sighișoara. Though be careful Romanian and Hungarians not best of friends !!

Iceland is definitely worth a visit.

We used to do the random Ryan Air trips to out of the way airports in Scandinavia, had some lovely long weekends for not a lot as we hosteled.

I love Thailand, the food is fab as are the country and people.

The Moors and Dales up North a really nice, do them when a friend goes birding, usually stay in Bridlington and drive around.

Going back to the good old days when money was more readily available...

The Galapagos island were stunning, Ecuador is actual a really nice place as is Peru.

We went here about twenty years ago when my sons were young. We had the most fabulous time and I can still remember it as being one of the best things we ever went to. It's not really a theme park, it's more a park with themed tableau. It's all about theatre and entertainment. The French have a different attitude to H&S than the UK and I can promise you thrills and spills a plenty if you go.

Dagnammit! I wish I'd known about this place when my boys were younger.
Every time I hear about some great place I didn't take them I get the guilts.

The beaches in Belgium are wonderful if you want a seaside holiday. Long stretches of fine, pale sand. Only about an hour and a half's drive from Dunkirk.

Might just be able to cover one of those £2 bus trips to a destination of your choosing for one lucky member. ;)

If I win, just give me a one way ticket to here please:
