Is it half term yet?

1/2 term is not a holiday we get (Australia) so how is your year set up? We have holidays as follows: April 1 week, June / July 3 weeks, September 2 weeks and December / January 6 weeks.

Generally we have holidays: 1 week october, 2 weeks christmas/new year, 1 week feb, 2 weeks easter, 1 week may/june and 6 weeks end of july/august.

We have 3 terms, split by the longer holidays and they in turn get split into half terms by the 1 week breaks.

My school (private): Year starts September. We get two weeks end of October, two over Christmas, one mid February, first two weeks of April, last week of May then finish at the start of July.

State high school is pretty much the same except only one week in October and they go on until the third week in July. Primaries In this area get two weeks end May/start June and finish a week after the secondaries (not usual pattern but parents here with younger children like the cheaper holidays in the second week ) Suits me as almost all my working weeks line up and I get a few days to myself from time to time when they don’t

We get 1 week plus 3 days in October, (maths didn't want 2 weeks), the teachers have to do twilight insets and community hours to make up the time.
