How the h*ll did they do that?

Dammit man! I'm a technician, not a magician!
Yesterday a child cooked a thermometer in a Bunsen.
The kid next to them had their goggles on their head, not on their face.
A&E trip later and thankfully they are fine and got they got the glass out of their eye.
My mother always used to say, 'If you can't do anything right in life, at least you can act as the example'.
See, stuff like this is why we ned a facepalm emoji.

What happened to the kid who was messing around? I reckon that could have ended up with a blind child

Oh we have the lovely density of irregular objects at the moment. So we have to supply a variety of objects that have to be carefully screened so they only fit in one size of measuring cylinder and "can't" be wedged into a smaller size.
We do ours in 1L cylinders in recent yrs. Objects on cotton or magnetic.

The one who boiled and popped the thermomenter has had a detention on safety in the lab, the child who wasn't wearing his glasses correctly had a chat with the HOD to remind him about the need to wear the safety equipment.
They said the safety specs were scratched and the lifted them as they couldn't see, I checked them all, no scratches, but cleaned them as there was quite a bit of fingerprints.
