Happy New Year!

Doing Dry January, but only cos the Festive season was particularly NOT dry, and don't want to make a habit of it...!
Otherwise, a resolution to finish off the Christmas chocolate before the kids do... doing very well on that one..

Happy new year all!

I'm doing veganuary! I'm already veggie but my partner suggested it so why not. I'll probably also do dry January, I'd like to investigate more of the alcohol free 'drinks' as there are so many now.

Longer term resolutions are to work towards a pull up (if I was lighter I'd be there already ) and I'd like to try couch to 5k again and actually get further than week 2 - I have a very different mindset than last time I tried it, so I'm hopeful.

A more "fun" resolution is to crotchet a cardigan - I just started learning over the holidays so I'm not sure how ambitious a goal that is.

My resolution is to win the lottery and retire to the countryside...
That's been my resolution for years but I just can't seem to bring it to fruition.
I got all excited recently when I won. Until I realised it was £4. Sigh. This year Rodney.

I can crotchet a cardigan. If by 'crochet' you mean using hook to make tangled knots, and by 'cardigan' you mean a shapeless thing you can drape over your shoulders.

Happy New Year:)
Peace to all.
My resolution is to enter a prestigious painting competition and win it, so I can embark on a career, which exists on my own terms. - I should first make a resolution to finish a painting and before that make a resolution to actually achieve a resolution.

We moved house last summer and I now have to drive to work rather than walk. I'm aware that although it wasn't a massive walk, it was regular, daily exercise that I'm not now doing, so I've signed up for a 12 month challenge to walk the South West coast path virtually. At 654 miles, it works out at just over 12.5 miles a week, which I reckon is achievable if I make a bit more effort at the weekends to compensate for what I'm missing during the working week. Also, living in sunny (?!) Devon, I can actually walk some of the coast path for real during the school holidays!!
If I achieve this goal, I might sign up for the Land's End to John O' Groats one another year, but that seemed too big a challenge for the moment!

Happy New Year all :)

Not great with resolutions, but could stand to loose a few pounds in weight, nephews wedding is this year and it seems to involve jumping in a lake at some point so don't want to frighten anyoneo_O all a bit hippie by the sounds of it, we are all staying in tents and teepees.

I keep seeing those challenges advertised on Facebook. How does it work ? Can you link it to a fitbit (other step counters are available !) or do you have to enter your distances into the challenge every day ? I know if I have to record stuff myself I won't do it

As implied above, my new years resolutions are to walk more and be more organised. I'm going to start the organised one by:
  • sorting out the Brownie accounts over Feb half term  (there's no point pretending that I'll do it not during a school holiday, it won't happen) and then keeping on top of them by entering everything once a month
  • keeping my birdwatching year list up to date - every year I start off super keen, start forgetting to update it by about March, and lose it by May :p

Yes, you CAN link to things like fitbit / Strava etc., or you can upload evidence manually. It's worth checking out the detail on the many challenge websites available. I've gone with the "End to End" challenges. There are loads of routes to choose from on there, some of which accept cycling mileage as well as walking / running.
I use a freebie step counter on my phone called "Pacer" (it was highly recommended by Goodhousekeeping!!), then upload a screenshot of my steps / miles each day.

Ish. My friend gave me his "old" Garmin Instinct Solar (£200!), so that's shaming me into getting my arthritic, wheelchair bound arse into gear. So I've taken up gym membership at daughters school...an hour a night on the way home, and either a 9-10pm swim, or a 6-8am one on the way in. No excuses.

Plus get my e-trike out at least 3x a week.

I'm going to try and stop stressing about this place, and matters beyond my control in general.

I'm going to stop working over, and actually start going home on time for the first time in 7 years. What doesn't get done in a day can carry over.

And, I'm going to appeal the DWP decision this year...45 years with CP, leg issues, surgery, crutches, wheelchair, dislocations and arthritis...always "no mobility issues evident". Enough of that. I can barely shuffle between rooms now, and the pain when I take even 2 steps...yeah. No More.

I am sure you are aware that there are few steep up and downs on this walk , plan a few pub stops to regain energy !!

I used to have a Birdwatching tick list and lapsed doing it for ages ! So, in my garden over the last few year (specials not a complete list) Egret , Sparrow Hawk, Green Woodpecker, Greater Spotted Woodpecker , Nuthatch , Goldcrest, Kingfisher , Grey Wagtail,Treecreeper, Mallard who laid an egg on the lawn !! . This is a garden 15 minutes walk from the city centre , however it backs onto a park and there is small brook at the bottom of the garden, hence the infrequent visits from birds associated with rivers and streams .

You have inspired me to start my list again !
