Giant Ruben's Tube help

I have found today a giant rubens tube in our stores- 335cm long and with a volume of 12+ litres.. I was hoping to potentially set it up for an open evening but obviously need to check it is safe first following CLEAPSS checks. On closer inspection however, there are 2 gas intake valves, 1 at either end. Could anyone provide some clarification as to why it may have been designed that way? Surely one would need to be blocked off to allow it to fill with gas? I'm a bit nervous to test it honestly especially as it is so huge.. Am I better off not bothering and writing it off? (please say no it is SO heavy and I'm pretty sure I aged a few years manhandling it onto trolleys o_O) Our vibration generator has just broken so I was hoping this could be a visually interesting alternative to chladni plates. Thanks!

CLEAPSS may be able to advise further if you contact them directly. Also the sheer weight of it (based on your post) is probably good for a 2-person lift, so unless somebody is willing to help you with lumping it around, it's probably not worth the hassle.
 
We found our 2.4 metre long, 75mm dia one needed to be connected to 2 gas taps, although the Ruben tube only has one inlet, and I use a Y piece in the supply tube to connect to the 2 taps. gas taps have quite a small bore, and are the restricting point for gas flow to Rubens tubes.

I do this for ours, though I can turn one of the gas taps almost off once I've lit it and got a stable flame.
