Efficiency of a motor using Joulemeter (UNILAB)

Hiya,

New technician here and really need help please. Haven't done this before. Does anyone know how to connect the joulemeter, PSU and a motor? Read the booklet from unilab but ain't help, tried to connect PSU to supply in the joulemeter and connect to the motor, the motor works but no reading in the joulemeter.

Please any help will be appreciate :)

Plug the red and black ouput from the power supply (set to 6V max) into the yellow 'Supply' sockets of the Joulemeter, then plug the motor into the yellow 'Load' sockets of the Joulemeter. I would also put a push switch in series with the motor, as it only should be on breifly.

I'm not sure if the Joulemeter 'goes low enough' to give you sensible results - we haven't got one that does, and use Voltmeter, Ammeter and stopclock (did it this morning).

Hi thank you for your fast respond, really appreciate it. I tried that (without the switch) but the motor didn't work and no reading appear on the joulemeter too :(

Check the joulemeter is working I have a couple of those that mysteriously stopped working after external PAT experts ignored the instructions that Unilab supply and did their own thing.

Help, I am having a similar problem I have set up with a heater for a block cal and on mJ I get a very slow reading, I might get something in the lowest setting of J but it takes about 30sec to change and the heater is not heating up. Yes the heater does work!

what voltage are you running it at with the heater?
