Over the summer we set off for a day at the beach. Packed the windbreak, picnic, towels, swimmers etc. and fearing no internet we dragged out the old transistor cassette radio. Nice easy journey to the south coast. parked, unloaded, claimed our bit of beach and settled down to enjoy Radio 2 and get burnt. After 20 odd minutes the radio faded. Forgot to check the batteries! Went up the beach and asked at the ice cream kiosk and the beach shop if they had any batteries to no avail. Another customer, overhearing my request pointed to a lady on the beach, sitting under a large umbrella and said that she might have some. Are you sure I quizzed. Oh yes he said, She sells C cells on the seashore.
