Who do you use for chemical uplift?

Been working my way through the previous technicians 30 years of hoarding and will need to get rid of quite a lot of chemicals. Does anybody have any recommendations?
 
We don't have the budget, so all the stuff they used in the past stays in the store, one day it will come back into fashion.
 
We use All Waste Matters - based in Kent but they come to us so probably do nationwide collections. Luckily for me I only have to pass my waste chemicals to the site team who do all of the organising for collection.

I used 'Chemgo' and got premises to pay for it - Health And Safety and all that jazz???
 
If it is inert inorganic stuff in decent containers I'd keep it given the supply difficulties and increasing costs, in some cases just because a SOW suggests one chemical it doesn't mean something similar can't be used. I can recommend Chemgo, last time I did this they were the cheapest in terms of the service they provided and they are local to us. They will need a list and quantities of what you want to get rid of.
 
another vote for chemgo, theyre really good, professional, reasonable price and the guys are really helpful.
 
Whoever you use - it should not come out of the science budget, the school health and safety/ premises budget should pay for it. Regarding expiration, CLEAPSS once told me that the expiration date on bottles mostly relates to the container the chemical is in rather than the chemical. However it is good practice to remove chemicals that haven’t been used in a long time or if you have bulk of something that you’re unlikely to use in the near future.
 
I also just used Chemgo the other day, even though we're located in Berkshire and they are based in Birmingham, they were still the cheapest, nice and professional. We had some really ancient acids where the bottles may have disintegrated at any moment. I too have to tackle an ancient basement of hoarded chemicals at some point sadly, I'm trying to see if any other schools in my area are doing waste collections so we can save money by getting them done at the same time.
 
Chemgo all the way. Brilliant service. I first used All Waste Matters a few years ago...never again. Chemgo from then on.
