    Aspergers/Autism

It's my group! I'll have a look at a less busy time and see if I can make some sub-categories or sort it somehow. :)

    cleaning and unblocking blocked sinks

I will take broken glass out and deal with spilled chems, but I point blank refuse to go near rubbish or chewing gum (grim ), that's teachers' job. Traps are site.

    Aspergers/Autism

I'm in the process of getting an ADHD diagnosis (already 'officially' autistic). My also-autistic flatmate calls what I've got "Spicy Autism" as opposed to his "Cool Original Autism"

    Friday Afternoon Thread........Technicians' Horror Stories

We had a kid stuff some item of stationery or other into an earth socket and then plug a 12v ray box directly into the mains. Blacked out a lab. Thankfully didn't kill himself in the process. Never seen my ex-HOD so angry. Kid's mum was a governor. Bet she was fuming.

    Aspergers/Autism

Lol what? I'll identify as whatever I bloody well please thanks. ND is such a broad term that it's entirely useless as a descriptor when it comes to things like accommodations, and treating autism as some sort of un-nameable Voldemort-Syndrome just stigmatises it more. What clown...

    Strike Day shenanigans.

I am so bored of the strike this afternoon I have just been constantly cleaning and adminning and using spreadsheets today and there's been NO practical and NO kids with random requests and NO first aid or anything with the slightest crumb of entertainment value, interest or novelty.

    Strike Day shenanigans.

Yeah, "email me or you're not getting it". They know I mean it too because I can get distracted and totally forget it before I've even left the room.

    Strike Day shenanigans.

I've been organising a big chem store clear-out (>18Kg and >19L of waste and chems we don't use are going, as are the four [!!!!] superfluous gas cylinders I've been saddled with and not used once since I started here). Premises have organised gas checks and structural work in the dept so I...

Neurodiverse Technicians' Group (Alternative Group Title: On the Tech-trum)

Doesn't help that I am a tiny, nerdy woman and my default setting is "upbeat and helpful" so when I lose it it's particularly spectacular by comparison. Comes in handy with the kids on trips though, I can really shut up a rowdy coach.

Neurodiverse Technicians' Group (Alternative Group Title: On the Tech-trum)

@Igor Yeah those all sound perfectly understandable :( it's awful when people who don't know what they're doing just decide to insert themselves into your prep room. Head's being a particular nightmare ATM- no idea how to work with ND staff, think he gets by with the gift of the gab a lot of...

    Glass bin dilemma

We have them in storage cupboards so we can lock the cleaners out lol as we had the same problem- they would empty the glass bins despite being instructed not to and then complain to us when the flimsy bin bags they tipped them into tore through and they got stabbed.

    Fixing a power pack

Afraid we can't by forum rules- CLEAPSS is a paid-for service so sharing it with non-members is not allowed. :(

    Slight annex to WBD thread

My first HoD put "Sharpe scissors" on her kit sheet once so we gave her scissors with a picture of Sean Bean stuck to them. Good times.

    Snow!

Chatting about the snow in my group chat and seeing all my friends from various places reminisce about what their schools were like is brilliant! My childhood school (Leicester, England): We weren't technically allowed to throw snowballs but the teachers mostly couldn't be arsed to go out in...
