Really silly silver nitrate question

Discussion in 'Supporting Chemistry' started by clairelucas, Nov 17, 2017.

  1. Can I decant small portions of the silver nitrate solution (0.2M) into washed up bottles that previously contained glycerol or alcohol, or would that still present a risk? Am I overthinking it?

  2. Shouldn't be a problem as long as the ARE clean, and the light is excluded.

  3. Thanks, knew I was being pedantic as quite happy to put in washed up test-tubes, but made me start thinking about the chemical screwcaps that may be more difficult to wash.. sorry, must be in jittery mode.. must be Friday!
Chose ex-glycerol bottles as are brown glass, and easier to pour from little bottles, especially in light of secure your chemicals (larger bottle looking like a graffiti artist's sketchpad with so many markings on it...)
