Oscilloscope, Dual trace, 100-200mhz

Hey guys,

Physics wants one of these but cannot settle on the one they want as the one they picked is now out of production. Can I have your suggestions please?

The one with the least knobs to fiddle with as when they are adjusted by the kiddies or the teacher the cry goes out "ITS NOT WORKING"

Na the one teacher that would be using it knows how to use one. Don't think anyone else in the school does :D

Pre plan for when the teacher leaves and not go back to square one
Well if she keeps up the way she is going it will probably be the end of the year!

Bought two of these from PH recently just short of £500

All our CROs are 10-30MHz, a picoscope might be an alternative if its just for teacher use rather than student'

Have you used those pictoscopes before they look good!

I can highly recommend the 'picoscope' some at the fraction of a price of CRO

Quick shout out for a (unfortunately expensive) storage scope......if you can get one they are SO fine & can do all manner of things that you don't (yet) know you want to......but will as soon as you get one 'cos you have to justify the expense.....err (re-reads above)....I'll get me coat

How much do they cost and can you send me a link to a nice one please? I don't mind the price, they are going to try and roll over their current budget for one till next year.

My favourite is here - alas as you can see it seems to be discontinued.....however on Rapid there are other, digital only, storage oscilloscopes (example here) that look like they'll do the same job.......after a bad experience in the past (before I came here) - this place is pretty anti digital scopes, all ours have analogue displays

We have a picoscope donated by tech department as they never needed it. I've never managed to get it to work....
Anyone know how to use a picotech education kit picoscope?

We had one sitting in a cupboard for years before a new HoD arrived and asked if we had one.
It gets used a fair bit now, particularly for Speed of Sound. The great thing about it is it can be projected onto an Interactive White Board.

To get it working, you need the Picoscope (ours is a blue box), the right USB lead to connect it to a tablet/laptop/pc and the software.(We're using PicoScope 6).
Then using BNC connectors, you can connect the usual Microphones etc.

Once it is set up, it's as baffling as a regular oscilloscope. i.e., twiddle buttons and knobs until something resembling what you want appears! :D
I'm kidding, some technicians/teachers understand the dark arts or Oscilloscopes, I'm more of a 'what happens when I do this' type of person.

Actuallly, just put it on... for the first time since I've tried it (which has been a few times..) it asked me if I was plugging in the usb or using a demo, hence for the first time ever, I have a screen that I can understand, and play with.
WORKING!!!
Now I just have to see if we can get it to work with their laptops or whiteboard, instead of just my PC...

We are starting sound waves (including (yawn) through a solid..) Can it be used instead of smartphone app via laptop - has 2x microphones supplied with it...
Will investigate Monday- have a good weekend..!

not even a 3.5" floppy?
3.5"? That's a bit fancy pants modern that is, we're on the 5" floppies here.

Do you mean the Picoscope? We don't do sound through a solid, we do it in air but I don't see why not. Let us know how you get on. :)
