Mini speakers

Discussion in 'Supporting Physics' started by hails, Jun 11, 2019.

  1. I've got a whole bunch of these. What fun things can I do with them? All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a biologist so bonus points for easy to understand instructions.

    Thank you

How easy are they to connect to a signal generator or other source of sound?

Just solder leads and 4mm plugs on.

You could mix some cornflour and water, cover the speaker with clingfilm and connect to a signal generator and make it dance.

  5. Stick a small piece of plastic mirror on it and bounce a laser beam of it.

they are tiny, you want to be doing that sort of thing with bigger ones. (two speakers with mirrors and two sig gens with one laser you can get lissajous.)

It is not clear what size they are. Mini speakers could mean anything

it says 66mm on the packet.

(though our mini speakers in the same style of packet are 38mm)

  9. Yep, they are 66mm. As we have about a class set of each type I'm hoping to find some kind of activity or practical that the kids can do. Rather than them just sitting in a gratnell gathering dust.

  10. Crystal radio kits. Will keep the little darlings quiet for ages. You need to make one yourself, so that you can prove it really does work.

So it does. I was just looking at the design of speaker
